A little simplification, please

How to kick aging’s butt!

Sometimes getting healthy is about inspiration. Inspiration leads to motivation leads to you believing that you can do something about how you feel. And that’s why I provide inspiration as well as information.

I’ve come across a couple videos lately about older women who are beating the odds. Are they hobbling about with their canes, complaining about their health and symptoms? No! They’re kicking aging’s butt!

Here are two examples I love. Watch and enjoy; then meet me after!

Do you want to live with the joy and satisfaction you see on these women’s faces as you age? Or do you want to give up, make excuses and be left wondering if — and having regrets that — your life could have been different?

Some of what happens as you grow older may not be your choice; some of it most definitely is your choice. You don’t have to take it as far as these two women did. Though those kind of goals definitely provide motivation to keep on trying. What can you make as your goal? What can you change in how you’re approaching being well … today?

Just seeing these again as I post them, even though I’ve already viewed them, makes me smile and encourages me. I hope it does the same for you. Life is to be lived – and lived with joy and passion. Good health helps you do just that.

Offer the world your value

The little red wonder berry

There’s always the new *wonder* something, isn’t there? From drugs to natural foods and supplements, it seems like something is being promoted and marketed as a miracle treatment.

And then we have the things that have been around forever. Do they get lost in the shuffle because we’re so used to them? Must we always have the latest, brightest, most expensive item to fix what ails us?

At times, perhaps. Many other times, nope! One of these unassuming health workhorses is the cranberry. Cranberries not only make great salads and relishes and such, their juice works wonders for females with urinary tract infections. (Please get pure cranberry juice, not the cranberry juice *cocktails.*)

And, now, cranberry juice gets another star added to its name – it appears to help heal ulcers. Scientists have been studying the effects of cranberry juice in preventing H. pylori (the bacterium that causes most ulcers) from adhering to the stomach wall. (And, I must note – the info I read said scientists have been *quietly* studying this for years. Quietly? Oh, thanks! I guess lots of press and fanfare doesn’t come with studying something that can’t make anyone a billion dollars, give or take a billion.)

Drinking one cup of cranberry juice eliminated H. pylori in three times as many subjects as a daily, cranberry-like, placebo juice. Though it is true that some subjects experienced no benefit. (Though I also would like to know the quality of the cranberry juice used.)

If you suffer from ulcers, this would be worth a try. Note the above – get pure juice. No additives, no sugar, no other juices. That’s what works the best.

In addition, I know that cabbage also is supposed to heal ulcers. My own experience in using it was when my stomach became inflamed from a high-dose detox I was going through while healing from Lyme Disease. It proved to be a little too much for my ailing system, and my stomach felt like I had swallowed glass. A couple days of cabbage juice, and I was just fine. And I could feel the relief within that first day. But, I have to say that, as much as I like cabbage, drinking its juice was rather brutal. Cranberry juice would be much better!
