Teach your pigs to fly!

PigLarge

Isn’t that a cool thought? If you are, like me, left staring at the sentence above a bit, consider it a little longer. I got that sentence from a person I was chatting and playing canasta with online (hey, it has its merits; play is important!). I thought about it and fell in love with the concept.

Don’t we too often, too easily give up on what really, really will matter in creating a life we love? It seems too hard; it’ll take too long; it’s not the norm; it requires change; it requires growth; it forces us to take a big leap of faith; it’s risky; it’s scary.

Worst of all, others encourage your lack of faith. That can’t be done, they tell you. It’s impossible. Why would you want to do all that work? Why bother? That’ll only happen … when pigs fly.

But what happens when you give up and give in? You’ve just settled, and, whether you admit it at any point in your life or not, you’ll have regrets. And you’ll know it, deep down.

So let me apply this to how well you feel. You don’t make the changes that will bring you back to whole life wellness because it seems too difficult. It’ll require you to change too much. It’ll take work. You have no idea where to start or even if it’s worth it. It’ll be harder to fit in with the usual crowd because they all (fill in the blank with some nasty health practice).

In other words, you don’t do what will bring you a beautiful, grounded sense of good health because you believe that could only be accomplished when … pigs fly. (Wow, think I just saw one of mine zipping by! And, boy, did he have a smile on his little piggy face!)

The heck with all that doubt and hesitation. It isn’t worth it; it’s sucking your life away. If you can find some faith, the changes you can make — the pigs you’ll teach to fly — will zip around like it is their birthright. Just be willing to embrace the possibility of feeling tons better. Just be willing to put one foot in front of the other, and keep going till you (and your pigs!) lift off.

C’mon; embrace the journey back to the kind of good health you want. It is so tremendously worth it. The first steps are belief and the commitment. Along with those, make the decision that: Blast it, I don’t care what I have to do, I want my life and my health back. You will never regret it.

Wait …. is that your pigs I hear heading toward the runway?
